The City Guide contains the children's top 10 favourite playgrounds in Budapest and the other 30 great ones hidden in the city. But Budapest is famous for its playgrounds as there are many, many more! Benjamin has checked out some other ones, not all as special as the ones in the city guide, but worth checking out if you're in the neighbourhood. - District I., Vérmezö Park

District I., Vérmezö Park At the edge of this large park - along Mikó street - there is a fenced, quiet, spacious playground with andpits, swings and modern equipment. Both sun and shade. Size: medium Age: 0 - 6/7 District IV., Tél utca / Nyár utca Tél and Nyár utca are two parallel streets, running from east to west, enclosing blocks of high buildings. On the east end of Tél/Nyár u., close Virág/Rózsa u. is a nice, modern playground. It is fenced, has lots of shade and good collection of equipment for the young ons, incl. a wooden house to climb. The playground for the older ones is limited but it has ping-pong tables and a fenced basket/football field. Pleasant! Size: medium Age: 0 - 6/7 A little further west between Tél/Nyár u. is a fenced playground, with both old and new toys. There is a section for the toddlers and a good climbing section for the older children. The shade and sun in the playground is very pleasant. There is also a basketball/football field with rubber and (old) ping-pong tables. Size: medium Age: 0 - 6/7 The playground located at the west end of Tél/Nyár u. is small but pleasant for the young ones. Size: medium Age: 0 - 6/7 District IV., Berda József u. / Aradi u. There are two playgrounds in this street (Berda u.). The first, close to Aradi u. is not recommended but a little further, along Berda J. u., is a new, low-fenced playground. It is peaceful and well kept with a good selection of toys for smaller children. Not so much shade though. Recommended. Size: small Age: 0 - 4 District IV., Gyulai tér In a pleasant square, with lots of high trees, you will find this playground with modern, wooden equipment. Size: small Age: 0 - 6/7 District V., Bástya utca In the very south part of the district, close to the Szabadság híd, you can see a creative solution when there is hardly any (green) space around. The playground is divided into three sections: the 1st has a slide and sand pit for younger children, the 2nd a football field and finally the 3rd part has a sand pit and a slide for older children. Only open to the public after 5PM, when the nearby preschool (to which it partly belongs) closes. Size: medium Age: 0 - 6/7 District V., Erzsébet tér Opened in 2007, this playground is brand new! It is located in the large, urban square in the City Centre. It has great football & basketball fields for older children, nice skating and skateboarding areas and lots of benches for lazy parents. The selection of toys, however, is rather limited. Size: medium Age: 0 - 6/7 District VIII., Kálvária tér In the green square full of trees and shadow, east on Baross u., is a fenced, fairly modern playground. The playing equipment is OK with sand pit, swing and climbing frames with slides. Size: medium Age: 0 - 6/7 District IX., Mihálkovics utca Located close to tall buildings, you will find two small, but very pleasant playgrounds with lots of shade and a fence. One is for the younger, the other for older children with a ping-pong table. Size: small Age: 0 - 6/7 District IX., Tüzoltó utca 93. Lovely, small playground. Fenced, mainly for younger children: riding/sliding/climbing toys, swings, sand pit. Size: small Age: 0 - 3/4 District XII., Margaréta utca This sunny playground still has mainly wooden toys: climbers/sliders, riders, roundabouts and sand pits for the very young ones. The swings really need replacement! The wood - with carved hungarian motifs - disappearing on playgrounds in line with EU regulation - gives the playground a different atmosphere. We like it! Size: medium Age: 0 - 6/7 District XII, Gáal József / Határör út A small, lovely new playground. It has only a few toys, mainly for younger children. Rather busy in the mornings, when the local preschool goes there with the youngest group. Size: medium Age: 0 - 10 District XII., Kútvölgy út 62. A bit off the beaten track, but worth a visit if you are living close by. Bamboo wooden toys, including a large climing frame. Nice - fenced - location in the hills with fresh air. Size: - Age: 0 - 6/7 Map coming soon District XII., Szarvas Gábor út, Szent Család Park Pleasant, fenced playground: swings & slides (both for toddlers and older children), climbing frame and nice, large sand pit with toys. There is a hill which is ideal for the "Hungarian" plastic motor bikes. Size: medium Age: 0 - 6/7 District XIII., behind Tahi út 44. The so called "Playground of the Boat". On a grassy spot you can climb the boat and play with some other toys. Lovely. Size: medium Age: 0 - 4 District XIII., Pozsonyi utca Across Pozsonyi utca, facing Szt. István Park, there are two other fenced playgrounds. One is also for younger children, though too sunny, and the other has a swing, a glider and ping-pong tables for older children. So the whole area, including the park is really great! Size: both small/medium Age: 0 - 12 District XIII., before Gidófalvy L. u 9-15 / Kassák L. u. Between tall buildings is a nice, spacious fenced playground. It has slides/climbing frames, swings and sand pit for younger children, and swings, ping-pong tables for older children. There are many benches and a drinking fountain. Very pleasant! Size: medium Age: 0 - 6/7
